Supported Independent Living (SIL) / Short-Term Accommodation (STA) / Respite Care
At Greater Health Disability Services, we provide high-quality accommodation and support services that help NDIS participants live as independently as possible while receiving the assistance they need. Our Supported Independent Living (SIL), Short-Term Accommodation (STA), and Respite Care services are designed to support participants in developing life skills, maintaining wellbeing and achieving their personal goals. We take a person-centred approach, ensuring that every participant receives tailored support that respects their choices, preferences and independence.
Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Supported Independent Living (SIL) supports participants who require ongoing assistance with daily tasks while living in shared or individual accommodation. Our SIL supports focus on helping participants build independence and develop essential life skills while ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
Support includes:
Assistance with personal care and daily routines
Support with household tasks such as cooking, cleaning and laundry
Medication assistance and health management
Support with developing independent living skills
Assistance with community participation and social activities
Overnight or 24-hour support where required
Our goal is to help participants live in a stable, supportive environment while building the skills needed to increase independence over time.
Short-Term Accommodation (STA)
Short-Term Accommodation (STA), including respite, provides participants with temporary accommodation and support away from their usual home. STA can be beneficial for participants who want to:
Experience new environments
Build independence and social skills
Participate in community activities
Transition toward more independent living
During an STA stay, participants receive support with daily living tasks, meals, personal care and recreational activities in a safe and supportive setting.
Respite Care
Respite care offers short-term support that allows families and carers to take a break, while ensuring participants continue receiving high-quality care.
At Greater Health Disability Services, respite services are designed to provide participants with a safe, comfortable and engaging environment, while also supporting carers in maintaining their own wellbeing.
Respite care includes:
Overnight or weekend stays
Short planned breaks
Support during emergencies or unexpected circumstances
